Wood Equipment Company Earns SWaM and SDVOSB Certifications

Wood Equipment Company has officially earned two significant certifications that reflect both who we are and how we serve our customers: the Virginia SWaM (Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business) designation as a Small and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business, and the SBA Certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) certification.

These are not checkboxes. They are formal recognitions of the values and ownership that have guided Wood Equipment Company for over 75 years.

What These Certifications Mean

The Virginia SWaM program is administered by the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD). It identifies businesses that qualify as small, women-owned, or minority-owned enterprises operating in the Commonwealth. For Wood Equipment Company, our SWaM designation specifically recognizes us as a Small and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business, a category that reflects the military service background of our ownership.

The SBA SDVOSB and VOSB certifications are federally administered designations for businesses that are at least 51% owned and controlled by veterans, with the SDVOSB designation reserved for those whose veteran owners have a service-connected disability. These federal certifications open the door to set-aside contracts and procurement opportunities at the federal level, including with agencies that have supplier diversity mandates.

Together, these certifications position Wood Equipment Company to serve an even broader range of customers, including government agencies, municipalities, and contractors who have supplier diversity requirements built into their procurement processes.

What This Means for Your Projects

If your organization works with government agencies, receives federal or state funding, or has internal supplier diversity goals, working with a certified SDVOSB and SWaM vendor can directly support your compliance and participation targets. Wood Equipment Company can now be documented as a qualified diverse supplier in your procurement records.

This does not change how we work. You still get the same technical expertise in pumps, liquid handling systems, control panels, and repair services that our customers have relied on for decades. The certifications simply make it easier to work with us in contexts where supplier diversity matters.

A Milestone Worth Recognizing

Earning these certifications required documentation, verification, and formal review by both state and federal agencies. We are proud to have completed that process and to carry these designations into our work with industrial, commercial, and municipal customers throughout our region.

If you have procurement questions, are working on a project with diverse supplier requirements, or simply want to discuss how Wood Equipment Company can support your next job, we would be glad to hear from you.
